“If you take care of today, the Lord will take care of tomorrow”, James 4:13-17, “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, April 7, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks. 13 Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. Pastor Brooks delivered a word of encouragement, his focus was verse 15. He taught, we should not wait until we are adults to make plans for our lives. Don’t wait to you get to high school to decide on your profession. There are some of us who do plan ahead but do not have God in their plans. For your spiritual shopping cart: Don’t leave the Lord out of your plans. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5 Life is short no matter how long you live. Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1. You don’t know if you will be living tomorrow. But it’s good to have a business plan and a business partner. Who is your business partner? Check out: Jesus had a business plan. At the age of 12, in the temple, “And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?” Luke 2:49. God gave us Jesus to heal, give us hope, deliver us from our sins, give us an abundant and eternal life. He died for the sins of the world. Make him your business partner. Accept Jesus today as your Lord and Savior. He will take care of your tomorrow. Thank you Pastor Brooks! Thank you Jesus!

“Know your Limitations”, Genesis 9:18-21 “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, March 3, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks 18 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.19 These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him”. Pastor Brooks’ message dealt with substance abuse, with the revelation coming from verse 21. This passage is where Noah was drunk and his sons looked upon his nakedness. He taught, substance abuse is destroying our families. He focused on alcohol use. It is a true fact that Jesus turned water into wine. He said he was not advocating drinking; the Bible does not say we can not drink, but not to get drunk. For your spiritual shopping cart: 1. Drinking does not make you a bad person. It’s when you get drunk that leads to bad decisions. “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit” Ephesian 5:18 Noah was like most of us, when we have too much to drink, he got naked and couldn’t remember what happened. This was and is a bad decision. 2. Family members cover up the fact there may be a problem. Noah’s older sons tried to cover up Noah’s drunken nakedness. “Everything done in secret shall be revealed”. Mark 4:22. There is nothing funny about being drunk, we may try to cover up our problems with makeup, when physical abuse happens from drunkenness, maybe send flowers, but it does not cover up the fact help is needed. 3. You lose respect from others when you can’t remember what happened from being drunk. You may not know your limitations. Check out: When you find yourself with a alcohol/substance, any problem, you may try to get fixes from hospitals, friends, families, groups…they are not the answer. Only Jesus can fix the problem. “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”. Isaiah 53:5 He is the "quicker picker upper"! Jesus gave his life for our sins. He died that we may have an abundant and eternal life. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Know your Limitation. Know Jesus for HE is Unlimited! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Brooks!

“I’m down to my last two dollars”, Mark 12:41-44. “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, February 24, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks. 41And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living”. Pastor Brooks taught from a familiar passage of the widow's mite. He shared, “A church member had told him they had not attended church because they had no money”.. He said he has also been told by some people, “I don’t come to church because of the stereotype of bad pastors. These are excuses. A lack of money should not keep anyone from coming to church. Do not allow crooked preachers to send you straight to hell. God will deal with you and them. For your spiritual shopping cart: What can we learn from the widow who gave all that she had? (Her last 2 dollars) 1. Trust in God. The widow didn’t wait to get to church to decide what she was going to give. She had already decided to give her all. She was obedient to God’s word. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5. 2. The true meaning of faith. The widow was not afraid to let go of her last $2 because of her faith. She knew the word of God says “Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and running over shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete it shall me measured to you again”. Luke 6:38 3. Real giving is not measured by what you give, but by what you have left. If you do good with the little bit that you have he will bless you with more 4. The true meaning of service. The widow knew that “No one can serve two masters; either he will hate the one and love the other”. Matthew 6:24 5. Real giving seeks to meet the needs of others. “The widow knew that someone else was worse off that she was. If you do good with the little bit that you have, God will bless you with more. Jesus multiplied two fish and five loaves of bread to feed five thousand. Matthew 14:13-21 Check out: Don’t panic when you get down to your last two dollars. God can give you what money can’t buy. Love, Joy, Health, Forgiveness of sin. Jesus Christ died so that you can have these things. Because he gave his life for us, we can’t afford not to give back to God. Don’t let money keep you from coming to church and from coming to Jesus! Accept him as your Lord and Savior. You will have an abundant and eternal life. Thank you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Brooks!

“The God of Peace is able to give you a peace of mind” Philippians 4:6-9, “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, February 17, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks. “ 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you”. Pastor Brooks, taught that “be careful for nothing” means don’t worry about nothing. In our daily lives we all experience some form of stress. Some signs of stress are depression, weight gain or loss, premature loss of and graying of hair, excessive use of alcohol or pain medication. Our only relief is the peace of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For your spiritual shopping cart: 1. Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. Christians should be encouraged by the word of God that says “Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Matthew 6:25-34. 2. God is the peace giver, Jesus is the peace maker. It’s impossible to have peace in your life if Jesus is absence from your life. “Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good and acceptable, and perfect , will of God. Romans 12:2-3. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. 3. Think positive in negative situations if you want to have peace of mind. Remove yourself from negativity. Check out: 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you”. If you want peace in your life a peace of mind. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Brooks!
“In times past; but now”, Philemon 1:10-16, “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, February 10, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks. 10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:12 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:14 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;16 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord? Pastor Brooks’ message was in celebration of Black History Month. From the passage his focus was on verse 11. This book is a letter that the apostle Paul sent to Philemon about his slave named Onesimus, who had run away and stole some things for his journey. Paul tells him that Onesimus heard the preached gospel and had accepted Christ. He asked him to forgive him and accept him back as a free man because he (Philemon) was a Christian too. Pastor Brooks contrasted this scripture of slavery to that of Black slavery. He shared the struggles that our forefathers endured during slavery and even recently; everything from having to eat food that was not fit for dogs to not having homes or transportation. No equality!. That was times past! But now! For your spiritual shopping cart: Because of Jesus Christ we are free. Jesus abolished slavery when he gave his life for our sins. We as black people now: 1. Must know our own self-worth; realize our potential. 2. Must know that we are all the same in the body of Christ. Skin color doesn’t matter 3. Must know that no weapon formed against us will prosper Check out: Each of us, must look at the goodness of God in our lives and how far he has brought us. We must never forget that, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life”. John 3:16 In times past we were dead to our sins. But now, because of Jesus, we as Christians have eternal and abundant life. We are free! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Brooks!

“We are covered by the blood of Jesus Christ”, Matthew 27:15-25, “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, February 3, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks. “15 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.” Pastor Brooks delivered a message of encouragement and victory. He focused on verse 25 from the scripture, and began by teaching about the importance of blood. In the Old Testament a lamb was killed, its blood was used as an atonement for sin; the New Testament, the Lamb is represented by Jesus. During the Passover the death angel passed over the homes of the Israelites because they had blood of a lamb over their doors. They were covered by the blood. We as Christians in our daily lives have had situations and tragedies passed over because we are covered by the blood of Jesus. In the passage the Jews chose Jesus over a criminal named Barabbas to be crucified. One of Jesus’ disciples, Judas had betrayed Him. Judas felt ashamed and guilty, even so much, that he committed suicide. For your spiritual shopping cart: 1. Verse 20: Don’t follow the crowd unless they have chosen to follow Jesus. We know when people have Jesus in charge of their lives. Sometimes it seems right but it’s not. “There is a way which seems right unto a man, but in the end it leads to death”. Proverbs 16:25 2. Don’t choose evil over good. People will talk about you regardless of what you do. “If any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on his behalf” 1 Peter 4:16 3. Verse 24: Water cannot wash away our sins.IWe have to be cleanse on the inside. Pilate washed his hands and said he was innocent. The blood of Jesus is the only thing that can cleanse. “If we say we have sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. Get the “word” of God in you. You can’t live the word if you don’t know the word. 4. Verse 25: Don’t take your children to hell with you. Don’t allow them to sin. Check Out: We have a choice; it’s either good or evil. Judas committed suicide after making a wrong choice. We do not have to commit suicide. We can live with guilt and shame when we give our sins/problems/lives to Jesus. Jesus the Lamb of God, died on the cross, He shed his blood so that we can be forgiven of our sins and have eternal life. There is nothing that we can ever do to wash away our sins, except to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Only His blood can cleanse us and our children. Accept Jesus As Your Lord and Savior! Let him cover you with his blood. You will have an abundant and eternal life. Thank you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Brooks!

“It’s already done”, Matthew 8:5-13, “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, January 20, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks. "And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour". Pastor Brooks’ message was about faith. The revelation came from verse 13 of the passage, as he asked the body to say the word “done”. He also asked us to remember that each week after alter prayer, he tell us to say to someone, “it’s already done”. The scripture told of a centurion who went to Jesus to ask him to heal his sick servant. The centurion was not a Christian but he loved his servant, enough to go to Jesus. He told Jesus he was unworthy for him to come to his home, but he knew that if he would only speak the word, his servant would be healed. For your spiritual shopping cart: 1. When you come to Jesus he will leave with you. The servant was healed, when Jesus spoke. Everything comes from the word of God. When we come to the altar we come to Jesus. When we leave the altar and we should know and realize our burdens are lifted. Our prayers are answered. Jesus said, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11-28-29 2. We have to have faith that Jesus will do it. The centurion knew he was unworthy and he couldn’t do it. He needed someone greater. We have to see our unworthiness. Sometimes we feel if we are not Christians, Jesus doesn’t have time for us. Jesus went into the house of sinners. We as Christians must be around non-Christians in order to share Christ with them so they can be saved. Jesus said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who sick. I came not to call the righteous but sinners”. Matthew 9:12 3. The centurion had respect for Jesus and demonstrated faith by asking Jesus for help. We have to believe that Jesus can do it, and ask him for help. Is there anything too hard for God? Your healing, your needs will be supplied. It's already done. Check out: When the centurion arrived home, his servant was healed. He knew that Jesus had already done it, because he had faith. It is not by our unworthiness, it’s about Jesus. He gave his life that we may have our sins forgiven. He died that we may have an abundant and eternal life. Ask him to come into your life. Accept him as your Lord and Savior. You will be healed, you will be saved. “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find; knock and the door will be opened”. Matthew 7:7. It’s already done! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Brooks!
“Lord is it I”? Matthew 26:20-22, “Word from Clayborne”, Sunday, January 6, 2019, Pastor Jerry L. Brooks. “Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? On this first Sunday of the New Year, Communion Service, Pastor Brooks taught from the passage of the Last supper with Jesus and the disciples. He asked the body to ask themselves this question, “Lord is it I”? As the New Year begins, most of us feel like we are failures. We put ourselves down and give in to sins. Satan sees to it that we do. Jesus doesn’t want us to fail or see ourselves in that light. We must see ourselves in the eyes of Jesus, how he loves us. He is the bridge between us and sin that we have to cross to get to God. We are on one side, sin is in the middle and God is on the other side. For your spiritual shopping cart: In this New Year of 2019 we must remember these things: 1. Surround yourself with godly people. 2. Give your best to Jesus, he gave his best for you. 3. Don’t look for trouble, it will find you. 4. Take a true look at yourself to see what you need to work on to get better (not sin). 5. Don’t say what you will not do. Just pray that you want do it with the Lord’s help. 6. Spend more time praying, because your spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Your spirit knows what the body can/will do. 7. Hold your peace, keep your mouth closed and your ears open. Jesus said “the truth will set you free”. Let him fight your battles. 8. Can others see your faith? Check Out: Lord is it I? In this New Year, know that it’s alright if you fall down/sin. But don’t stay down. ”You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you”. Phillpians 4:13 Work on yourself! Get up, call on Jesus, pray say, "LORD IT IS I" "Call on him in the day of trouble, he will deliver you, and you will honor him. Psalm 50:15 Thank you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Brooks! Happy New Year!
